Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino watched on from the stands as Rotherham United, and ex-Derby County, midfielder Ben Pringle provided a masterclass.
An unlikely spectator during the League One play-off semi-finals was Leeds owner Massimo Cellino who was spotted by one of the Sky Sports cameras.
This quickly lead to rumours that he was looking at potential players the club could sign this summer, and if he was, he wouldn't have been disappointed.
After the match, Leeds United supporters took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the excellent Rotherham United midfielder Ben Pringle, who created two of his sides three goals.
The former Derby County Young Player of the Year has really come on in leaps and bounds since Nigel Clough decided to release him in 2011 after just 20 appearances for the Rams. Since then, he has gone on to become an integral part in a progressive Rotherham United side who, if things go their way, could be a Championship side next season.
Rotherham United showed no mercy in the League One play-off semi final and unfortunately for Preston, it just wasn't meant to be their day. A Paul Gallagher free-kick put the away side in front, however, their lead didn't last long. A quick reply from Rotherham saw them go 2-1 up before half-time, both assisted by former Derby man Ben Pringle.
Ex-Everton starlet Kieran Agard ultimately finished the game off in the second-half, which now means Rotherham can start to dream what might be at Wembley.
As for Pringle, It would be criminal if the Newcastle-born midfielder wasn't given a second chance to prove himself in the Championship next season either with a promoted Rotherham United, Leeds United or somewhere else.
The high-energy midfielder has proven, with the right coaching, just what an asset he can be. In his time at Derby, he was often back-up to pantomime villain Robbie Savage, but found himself released upon his retirement. An unfortunate situation for the young player who had to drop down the leagues and once again show the fight and desire to rebuild his reputation, which he has done at Rotherham.
In fact, in his current form, you could well argue Clough's decision to release him in 2011 may well go down as one of his biggest mistakes in his time with the Rams, which ended controversially earlier in the season.
A good, honest, hard-working player who has shown the determination to rebuild his reputation. Leeds could certainly do a lot worse this summer.
