Skipper happy with season progress…
United skipper Rudy Austin believes that the high level of competition in the squad has been key to the team's rise into the Play-Off places.
Sixth spot is currently occupied by Brian McDermott’s men and the captain feels that things are going well this season and is hoping that United can push forward.
“It is going well so far and I was really pleased with Saturday,” said Rudy. “The boys are doing really well and we just have to keep it that way.
“It was a tough game. I think that we played well in the first half but in the second half it was hard against 10 men. But the most important thing was that we got the three points.
“We are feeling good. The squad is very competitive, everyone wants to play and that is how we want to keep it.
“We have to take it one game at a time and we can’t get too carried away.”
Rudy, who has now got over 50 appearances to his name in a Untied shirt, says he is enjoying his football and will do whatever is needed to help the team.
“I’m just enjoying it and I’m just trying to do my best for the team,” said the United skipper. “Whenever and in any way I can.
“However I can help the team I will do that job. For me, I just go out there and enjoy it and it is good when we get three points.
“When the team are doing well and getting the points other players are working hard to get in and it is good to have that competition in the side.”
Rudy wants United to head to Blackburn in a positive mood and is hoping for the three points.
United will be backed by over 6,800 supporters at Ewood Park and that is something that is appreciated by Rudy and the whole squad.
“It is always nice to see the fans at the away games giving us their support," added Rudy.
“We have to go into the game at Blackburn in a positive mood and hopefully we’ll come away with all three points.”
