The Leeds United team of 2004/05 reported for the first day of pre-season training yesterday with eight new faces amongst them.
New boss Kevin Blackwell has been busy over the past few weeks talking to out of contract players and players clubs have been prepared to release, and a number of those players will officially complete their moves today by signing on the dotted line.
The new arrivals at the club on free transfers are Former Ipswich winger Jermaine Wright, Matthew Spring from Luton Town, Clarke Carlisle from QPR, Paul Butler from Wolves, Julian Joachim from Coventry, Michael Ricketts from Middlesbrough, and Danny Cadamarteri, formerly of Bradford City.
Blackwell though has not finished there, he is hoping to complete at least another two further signings before The Whites step out onto the Elland Road turf for their first game against Derby on August 7th.
Said Blackwell:'I do have a few more irons in the fire and hopefully, fingers crossed, we can see if one or two or those can be brought to the club.'
On his list of targets are a goalkeeper and a midfielder. Talks are ongoing with a number of players.
Meanwhile, a number of last season's squad have still not resolved their futures, and some who were expected to have left the club in the summer break, have reported for pre-season training.
Danny Mills, Ian Harte and Michael Duberry were all expected to make moves to other club in the last month, but those moves have broken down and they remain, for the time being, Leeds'.
