Leeds United rejected by 21-year-old midfielder after accepted £25m bid — The72.co.uk 30/8/24

Leeds United saw a £25m bid accepted for Dinamoo Zagreb’s Martin Baturina but the 21-year-old has rejected the move, according to Sportske Novosti.

Leeds United look set for a busy deadline day with many deals in the works. After already securing Ao Tanaka’s signature, the Whites want more through the door.

Over the past few days, the club have been linked with ambitious moves for Gustavo Hamer and Roland Sallai. Isaac Schmidt is one who is also expected to move to Elland Road before the window closes.

Despite already signing Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon in the final weeks of the window, Daniel Farke still wants more attacking options. The German has now turned his attention towards a new number 10.

According to Sportske Novosti, Leeds United had made a huge move for Dinamo Zagreb attacking midfielder Martin Baturina. The move would have been for a Championship record fee of around £25m.

The offer was accepted by the Croatian club, but Baturina has turned down the move. He does not want to move to the Championship at this stage of his career.

It now looks like the Croatian will remain at Zagreb, however he does have interest from Serie A side Fiorentina.

So far this summer, Leeds United have raised a lot of money through player sales. After already bringing in seven players, the club are still looking for more.

However, replacing their outgoings has been no easy feat. The likes of Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Crysensio Summerville were arguably their best players last year.

While Ramazani and Solomon may replace Rutter and Summerville, it is a huge ask for the pair.

It had been unknown how much would be spent as they look to rebuild. But such a huge bid for Baturina suggests Leeds United are prepared to spend big, be it today or in January.
