Club want to terminate contract of player signed a month ago from Leeds United for bizarre reason — Leeds All Over 13/8/24

Kristoffer Klaesson ended his three year stay at Leeds United in July when he secured a move to Raków Częstochowa, but he could have his deal terminated soon.

Leeds’ rebuild after playoff final misery this summer hasn’t been a total overall like 2023, but the club have shifted on a number of fringe players not getting playing time.

Not many outgoings this summer look to have made much of an impact on the senior squad heading into a second promotion bid.

Kristoffer Klaesson was one of the players who headed out of the club on a permanent basis, moving to Polish club Raków Częstochowa after three years at Elland Road.

The Norwegian youth international made three appearances at Leeds before his exit, not conceding a goal in those outings, but failing to break into the senior fold full-time.

However, just a month on from that agreement in July, reports from Przeglad Sportowy claim that Raków are now considering terminating the ‘keeper’s contract already.

The reason being that Klaesson arrived at the club slightly overweight, but while backroom staff had formulated a plan to recover his fitness, he has recently been spotted by fans in fast food chain McDonald’s.

“The 23-year-old even managed to play in the league match of the second Raków team, but everything indicates that his adventure at Jasna Góra will end on this … As reported in the X website Kamil Głębocki from the Czestosportowa.pl website, former goalkeeper, among others Leeds United was caught by fans in one of Częstochowa’s McDonald’s restaurants.

“As we managed to find out, the reaction of the club is to be firm. The Rakov authorities want to terminate the contract with Klaesson. And that’s just over a month away.”

Such a baffling way to tarnish reputation at a new club

A move away from Leeds looked a good opportunity for Klaesson, knowing he’d be getting much more playing time than he got here.

That said, it looks now though like this opportunity has been ruined and it would be a surprise if another club took a chance on him straight away based off this month unfolding in Poland.

The issue here is that there’s clearly something else at play behind the scenes, and whatever problems are going on for the ‘keeper, it would be great to see him overcome them – knowing he does still have promise and a lot of his career ahead of him.

At 23, there’s plenty of time for Klaesson to get back to playing at a good level, but it might take some work from hereon.
