Crysencio Summerville transfer details as Leeds United talisman closes in on West Ham switch — Leeds Live 1/8/24
Crysencio Summerville played an instrumental role in Leeds United's promotion push last season
It appears that Crysencio Summerville has played his last
match for Leeds United. The talismanic winger is closing in on a move to West
Ham United.
The Dutchman has reportedly agreed a five-year contract with
the Premier League side and is due to undergo a medical in the UK today before
potentially flying out to join them on their US tour. The Hammers face Crystal
Palace in a pre-season friendly in Florida this weekend.
It has been claimed that West Ham are set pay United an
initial £25m for Summerville, who scooped the Championship's player of the year
award last term after hitting 21 goals and laying on nine assists, with a
further £5m in performance-based add-ons. The Whites are said to have inserted
an additional clause into the deal, meaning they will be in line for a further
£4m should Summerville earn a full senior cap for the Netherlands.
There has been constant speculation surrounding
Summerville's future ever since United came up short in the play-off final.
Liverpool, Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea and Newcastle United are among the
clubs to have been credited with an interest in the talented attacker.
United will reportedly lose 15 per cent of the transfer fee
they receive for Summerville as Feyenoord have a sell-on clause, according to
1908. Ten per cent of the fee is part of the Dutch club's sell-on clause and
they will receive an additional five per cent as a solidarity contribution for
him coming through their youth system.
Losing a player of Summerville's calibre with just over a
week to go until the start of the 2024/25 season is far from ideal but you
would like to think that manager Daniel Farke will be given some of the
proceeds raised from Summerville's sale to reinvest back into the team before
the transfer window shuts on August 30. United have been linked with a number
of attacking players, including Ryan Kent and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
Farke's men return to action on Saturday when they entertain
La Liga side Valencia in their final pre-season friendly. The Whites have so
far beaten Harrogate Town, Hannover 96 and Schalke in their warm-up fixtures.
