Daniel Farke: We want to deliver a good performance — Leedsunited.com 29/8/24
Ahead of his side facing Hull City at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, Daniel Farke has spoken with the media at Thorp Arch to preview the match.
Coming into the game, both teams are unbeaten in their first
three Sky Bet Championship matches, with the Tigers having drawn three in a
row, whilst Leeds secured a first win last time out against Sheffield
Wednesday.
Looking ahead to the Yorkshire derby, the manager gave his
thoughts.
Farke said: “We need to be focused on this game. We made a
major step forward with a top result and also a top class performance against
Sheffield Wednesday. We want to do the same again, deliver the same quality of
performance and hopefully then also really good result in the home game against
Hull, because each and every point counts.
“It’s a bit tricky to prepare for Hull because they probably
also have some late incomings right now, lots of fluctuation during the summer,
many new players in, many outgoing, so they are still in the process to find
their feet. But, they are also three games in and three games unbeaten, it is
not easy to create chances and score against them in the league. We know it's a
difficult task, especially in a derby, and for that we have to be fully
focused, fully switched on.
“The feeling is we are in a good mood, can play with
confidence, especially after the last game, and want to make sure we deliver a
good performance.”
The Whites defeated Sheffield Wednesday away from home last
week and at the heart of the midfield in that one, Ilia Gruev is looking to
make it back-to-back wins before the team head into the international break.
Previewing the game with LUTV, the Bulgarian gave his
thoughts on facing the Tigers.
“We feel very good after this important win for us,” Gruev
reflected, on the victory at Hillsborough. I think we played very good
football. You can feel it, the atmosphere is good. It's nice to win again and
it gives you confidence for the next tasks. We wanted to win this game and it
was very important for us. I think you can see it and feel it as a fan, and
also as a viewer, that we wanted it. The way how we played it, I would say it
was very mature. They were a good team and I think to perform in this way at
this difficult away game, it was very important for us to go back on winning
ways.
“I think after these two clean sheets and now the important
away win, we are confident that we can play good football, attractive football.
The most important thing is to win at home now. If we win this game, it would
be four games, eight points. It would be very good.”
