Young new Leeds United striker Robbie McDaid says he has signed for the club to help lead them back to the Premier League.
The 17-year-old striker has arrived at Elland Road after agreeing a two-year deal from Northern Irish side Glenavon last season.
McDaid has made ten senior career appearances already despite his tender age and he made a name for himself with Glenavon last season when he came off the bench with twenty minutes remaining to score twice in the 4-2 local derby win against Portadown.
His form brought him to the attention of Leeds, earning him a successful trial with the club. He has also represented his country at under-19 level in the past year and he is now ready to work hard at Elland Road as he looks to progress.
Speaking to LUTV, McDaid said, "I`m an old fashioned centre forward. I am physical, I will suit the English game and that is what I am all about.
"It is a massive step up for me but it is just a matter of working hard. I need to work hard and I need to be disciplined. I need to want it every day. I want to be here, I want to work hard and I want to progress.
"My aim is to cement my position. I want to be in the under-21`s by Christmas and then I want to progress. I am going to come in everyday and I want to get better and improve every single day. I am not coming here for a two-year holiday. I am here to progress and I want to play for Leeds United and I want to take Leeds to the Premiership."
McDaid will return to his former club Glenavon in July when Leeds visit Northern Ireland on July 30th for a friendly game. The game was arranged as part of the deal that saw McDaid make the switch to Leeds.
