Sunderland have been forced to recall Connor Wickham from his loan spell at Leeds United.
The Black Cats have collected just one point from their last four Premier League matches and are currently 18th in the table.
They have scored just one goal in six hours of top-flight football and were beaten 2-0 at Norwich City on Saturday to leave them three points adrift of safety.
And now manager Gus Poyet has decided to bring Wickham back to the Stadium of Light less than one month after heading south to Elland Road.
In five appearances the 20-year-old failed to find the back of the net having scored eight times during a previous loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
The former Ipswich Town youngster will be included in the Sunderland squad which travels to Liverpool on Wednesday with forward Fabio Borini unable to face his parent club and striker Steven Fletcher injured.
