United boss Brian McDermott says Saturday's 5-1 defeat at the hands of Bolton was a shock to the system.
“I didn’t see that one coming,” said the manager. “After the last four games we looked tight and solid.
“In the first half there was nothing in the game and they scored just before the break. It was similar to the QPR game the weekend before. The goal was a body blow.
“We have a squad of players here that are desperate to do well, there is no doubt about that. You could see that there were nerves around the team for whatever reason on Saturday.
“We haven’t played at Elland Road for a while and we’re really upset with the way the game went.”
The management are now looking to move on quickly with Reading the visitors at Elland Road on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
“We trained on Sunday and we have to pick ourselves up for match on Tuesday night,” said the boss. “Saturday’s result came from nowhere.
“For whatever reason that has happened to us two or three times this season. It has never happened to one of my teams before.
“We have to regroup and pick a team for Tuesday.
“And what I’ll say to the people who play that game will be that they have got to run, they’ve got to make tackles and they have got to do whatever they can in front of our fans to redeem ourselves in some way, shape or form.”
