McDermott- Players nervous wearing the Leeds badge
Leeds United boss Brian McDermott admits the players are nervous when playing for the club.
McDermott spoke after another humiliating home defeat, something that has littered Leeds seasons in recent times.
Bolton beat Leeds 5-1 at Elland Road, their heaviest home defeat of the season and McDermott admitted that the players are struggling to play for the badge that has been worn with pride by many over the years.
Speaking after the heavy defeat to Bolton, McDermott said, "It is a big badge to play for and you can see the players are nervous."
Nearly 29,000 fans were present at Elland Road on Saturday for the visit of Bolton and you would think that professional footballers would revel at the opportunity to ply their trade in front of big crowds.
One player who is struggling in front of the Leeds crowd is on loan Jimmy Kebe who again felt the wrath of the Leeds faithful on Saturday.
The on loan winger was eventually substituted just past the hour to ironic cheers from the Elland Road crowd, something McDermott didn`t like, "It wasn`t pleasant but supporters pay good money to watch and we have a responsibility as professional people to ensure we produce the goods," McDermott continued.
McDermott also substituted fellow winger Cameron Stewart at the same time as the pair continue to struggle since their arrivals in January.
It will be interesting to see whom McDermott picks for the home game with Reading on Tuesday night.
