Naked truth about Williams' Leeds exit: Former scout taking Whites to tribunal - Mail 29/11/13

By Charles Sale
Gwyn Williams, the former Chelsea chief scout who discovered John Terry, is taking Leeds United to an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal over the sending of an ‘obscene’ email.
Williams, a long-time close associate of former Chelsea and Leeds chairman Ken Bates, left Elland Road last July having been the club’s technical director since 2006.
It has emerged that Williams was summarily dismissed by Leeds’ Dubai-based owners GFH Capital for using a club email account to send ‘lewd and obscene’ pictures to his former Chelsea and Leeds colleague Dennis Wise.
It is understood the explicit pictures of naked women in a shower was part of a ‘dirty Leeds’ joke email doing the rounds that Williams sent on to Wise.
Williams was Leeds caretaker boss for one league game following Wise’s resignation as manager in 2008. The email in question was sent that year, according to Williams.
The claim, which is due to be heard by an employment judge in Leeds next March is for around £250,000, which tallies with Williams’ annual salary plus benefits. Williams said: ‘I need to go to court to clear my name.’
