Leeds United: Too early to discuss Blackstock future - Mac
YEP 29/11/13
Leeds United are turning their attention to the January transfer window after allowing last night’s loan deadline to pass quietly – but Brian McDermott says it is too early to discuss the future of loanee Dexter Blackstock.
McDermott called Blackstock a “good addition” to the squad at Leeds and complimented the striker for his four appearances so far but the United boss is not ready to begin considering the option of making his transfer from Nottingham Forest permanent.
Blackstock joined Leeds on a 93-day deal last month, moving to Elland Road until January 25, but he has more than three years left on his contract at Forest and is unclear about his prospects under Forest manager Billy Davies.
McDermott said: “I’ve been really pleased with him. He’s been a good addition to the group. In January he either goes back or he stays but it’s so early to be talking about him. I’m not looking too far ahead. He’s got three-and-a-half-years on his contract (at Forest) and that’s a lot. From Dexter’s point of view there’s no way he’d be signing a contract which says two years on it if his other one says three and a half years.”
Blackstock was the only loan signing made by McDermott during the emergency window and he made no other bids ahead of yesterday’s 5pm deadline.
