Harry Gray has labelled his switch to Sheffield Wednesday as
"perfect" after seeing his season-long loan deal from Leeds United to
the Owls confirmed.
The 17-year-old will spend the entirety of the 2026/27
season in League One at the Owls, who under new ownership are looking to bounce
straight back to the Championship. Wednesday have big hopes of promotion under
manager Henrik Pedersen, and it's a confidence boost for Gray that he's being
asked to come in and play his part next season on loan.
Having enjoyed his time at Rotherham United in the second
half of last season, Gray will relish an opportunity to try help a side with
ambitions for going up, after a fight against relegation from League One last
season.
That ambition convinced Leeds and Gray that a switch to
Hillsborough was the best option as a host of clubs showed an interest in
signing the teenager, with fellow Yorkshire side Huddersfield Town the closest
rival for his signature.
Speaking about the move, Gray says a chance to get his feet
on the ground in pre-season is going to be a big bonus for him.
He told the Owls website; “There were quite a few clubs
interested but it was an easy decision because this is such a big club. It’s
crazy to think about 24,000 season tickets in League One and the timing is
perfect, as I have a full pre-season to settle in.
“Hillsborough is a special stadium when the fans get going
and I think this year, with everything that's going on around the place, it
should be unbelievable and hopefully a season to remember. It’s the perfect
place for me.”
