Georginio Rutter was reduced to tears by Leeds United’s play-off final defeat - and has been quick to take personal action.

Whites star Georginio Rutter already appears to be putting in the hard graft on the back of Leeds United’s play-off final heartbreak.

Rutter was reduced to tears by last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the Championship play-off final which spelled the end of United’s season and the start of holidays for their players.

United’s players have largely kept a quiet counsel since although Rutter issued a message to United’s fans on Instagram on Saturday and has now followed that up with an Instagram story post.

Taking to the social media platform, Rutter posted a photograph of himself in the gym posted from Mauritius, the Frenchman clearly keen to quickly put in the hard graft over the summer.

Writing in an actual post on his Instagram page on Saturday evening, Rutter put: “Hello Leeds fans, A few days have passed but still as much disappointment, the objective was not achieved despite a superb season where each of us gave our maximum. Thank you for your support throughout the year see you soon. MOT.”

Leeds United board break silence after transfer window with statement on upcoming Elland Road development — YEP 2/9/24

By Joe Donnohue Leeds United have confirmed supporters' commemorative stones at Elland Road's Centenary Square will be replaced free of charge in a bid to improve their longevity. Beginning next month, Leeds supporters' personalised stones will be replaced with exact replicas, courtesy of a new company, to ensure of a 'much better quality' installation. The work is expected to take around two months to complete. An official club statement confirmed 'three larger stones dedicated to former managers Don Revie, Howard Wilkinson and Marcelo Bielsa' will also be installed, 'similar to those located in Bremner Square', while additional space for supporters to purchase new stones has also been factored into the project. “The club have taken on board recent feedback from supporters on the stones at Centenary Square, and we are really happy that we can now announce that all of the stones will be replaced," chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed,
