Leeds United Club Awards 2023/24 — Leedsunited.com 18/4/24
2023/24 GOAL OF THE SEASON: PATRICK BAMFORD
Special strike against Peterborough wins award.
Patrick Bamford has been awarded with Leeds United’s Goal of
the Season for his wonder-strike against Peterborough United in the FA Cup
Third Round.
With the Whites a goal to the good at the Weston Homes
Stadium, the Leeds number nine controlled Ethan Ampadu’s long pass superbly on
his chest, before unleashing a fierce volley from 25 yards out which flew past
a helpless Fynn Talley in the Posh net.
Daniel Farke’s side would go on to win the tie 3-0 in
Cambridgeshire, with Ampadu himself grabbing a brace as Leeds booked their spot
in the Fourth Round.
January proved to be a fruitful month for Bamford, who was
also on target in the Sky Bet Championship against Birmingham City, Cardiff
City and Norwich City.
Also nominated for the award were Joel Piroe (vs Millwall),
Georginio Rutter (vs Swansea), Dan James (vs Hull City) and Crysencio
Summerville (vs Norwich and vs Watford).

2023/24 YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR: ARCHIE GRAY
Archie adds another award to his collection!
Leeds United are delighted to announce that Archie Gray has
been named the club’s Young Player of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign.
The 18-year-old has been a key part of Daniel Farke’s side,
after making his first-team debut on the opening day of the season at home to
Cardiff City.
Gray has been utilised in a number of different roles,
showing his versatility and knowledge of the game at a young age.
He has made 46 appearances in all competitions so far this
term, and despite not being officially awarded the goal, a standout moment came
against Leicester City in the comeback victory at Elland Road.
At the recent EFL Awards, Gray was named the Young Player of
the Season, along with the Apprentice of the Season, showing how highly thought
of he is within the game following his performances this year.
As well at club level, Archie has been recognised
internationally this season, making two appearances for the England Under-21s,
where he scored on his debut away in Azerbaijan.
Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate Archie on winning the award.
2023/24 PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR: CRYSENCIO SUMMERVILLE
Winger voted for by his teammates.
Leeds United are thrilled to announce that Crysencio
Summerville has been named the Players’ Player of the Season for the 2023/24
campaign.
The forward has been in scintillating form for the Whites
this season, with 18 goals and nine assists across all competitions from 43
matches played.
After finding the net in Daniel Farke’s first game in
charge, Summerville has been a constant threat to defences across the division,
having missed just two fixtures during the entire season.
With United continuing to fight at the top end of the table,
the trickery and pace of the Dutchman has seen him light up Elland Road on
multiple occasions with his goals, but he has also created a huge number of
chances for his teammates.
It’s not just in attacking areas where Summerville has
excelled, with his high work-rate and determination to help the team seeing him
track back into defensive areas as well when needed.
Having secured the Players’ Player of the Year award, he
adds to his collection this season after being named in the Sky Bet
Championship Team of the Season, along with being named the Sky Bet
Championship Player of the Season at the recent EFL Awards.
2023/24 WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR: JESS ROUSSEAU
23-goal striker collects the accolade.
After a sensational year in front of goal, Jess Rousseau has
been named the Leeds United Women’s Player of the Season for 2023/24.
Striker Rousseau collects the award following a superb
campaign to date, which has seen the forward grab 23 goals in 24 appearances in
all competitions.
Jess joined the club at the beginning of 2023 from Lincoln
City and has shone in her first full campaign for the Whites.
In 18 starts in the FAWNL Division One North, Rousseau’s 15
goals leave her tied with Hull City’s Helen Lynskey in the race for the
league’s golden boot.
The 20-year-old started the season as she meant to go on,
netting in August’s curtain raiser against Stockport County on home soil.
A pacy and skilful forward, arguably Rousseau’s finest
performance came in March, where she grabbed a hat-trick in United’s emphatic
5-1 victory over rivals York City.
Last time out, the striker was again deadly in front of goal
as Simon Wood’s side dismantled Chorley 4-1, with Jess herself adding two to
her tally in the dominant win in Garforth.
Rousseau and her teammates have three matches left of their
campaign as they look to finish the season strongly, starting with this
weekend's trip to Stockport County.
2023/24 BOBBY COLLINS AWARD: ANNIE COCHRANE
Long-serving employee recognised.
Leeds United are proud to announce that the winner of the
Bobby Collins Award for 2023/24 is Annie Cochrane.
The Bobby Collins Award is given to a member of staff at
Leeds United, to recognise their outstanding contribution to the football club.
Annie moved to Leeds from Kilbarchan in Scotland back in
1967. From that day, she has remained within the city and joined the club over
20 years ago, working here ever since!
She is a popular figure both on matchdays and non-matchdays
at the club, looking after customers within our hospitality areas, whilst also
offering her help and expertise to others to make it a memorable experience for
all.
Annie, who was also recently a finalist at the 2023/24 EFL
Awards in London for the Club Employee Award, is a real unsung hero
behind-the-scenes at Elland Road.
As well as celebrating her thoroughly deserved award this
evening, Annie also marked her 90th birthday on Friday 12th April!
Everyone at Leeds United recognises the outstanding effort
and commitment Annie has made to the club and we are delighted to see her in
attendance this evening to collect the Bobby Collins Award for 2023/24.
2023/24 SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: LIAM COOPER, STUART DALLAS & LUKE AYLING
Trio recognised for their outstanding contribution.
Leeds United are proud to announce that our Special
Achievement Award for the 2023/24 season has been awarded to Liam Cooper,
Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling.
The trio have been recognised for their outstanding
contribution to Leeds United Football Club, after a number of years of service
between them both on and off the pitch.
All three played key roles in helping the Whites to the Sky
Bet Championship title in the 2019/20 season, before then performing above all
expectations once more, as the club finished in 9th place in the Premier League
the following year.
Cooper has made in excess of 250 appearances and counting
for the Whites, wearing the armband and leading the team out for a number of
those. He has also represented Scotland 18 times at international level.
Our captain has played 18 times across all competitions this
season and will be aiming to once again help the Whites to promotion in the
final stages of the campaign.
Dallas arrived at Elland Road in 2015 and has also surpassed
the 250-game total for the Whites, as well as winning 62 caps for his country,
Northern Ireland.
An almost ever-present in the team since joining, whether
that was in midfield or defence, the 32-year-old recently announced his
retirement from the game after sustaining an injury in the 2021/22 season.
Like his teammates, Ayling has also represented United over
250 times in his career since joining the club in 2016, scoring a number of key
and memorable goals along the way in that time.
Now on loan with fellow Sky Bet Championship side
Middlesbrough, Ayling played 16 times this season for Leeds prior to making the
move.
All three players have represented Leeds United in the most
professional and dedicated manner, both on and off the pitch.
Whilst their footballing contributions are clear, their work
off the pitch within the community and behind-the-scenes at the club has been
an outstanding factor in this award.
Everyone at Leeds United recognises the effort and
commitment that Liam, Stuart and Luke have given to the club and we are
delighted to see them honoured at our 2023/24 Awards.
2023/24 PLAYER OF THE YEAR: ETHAN AMPADU
Wales international collects the award.
Leeds United are delighted to announce that Ethan Ampadu has
been named Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season.
The 23-year-old joined the Whites last summer and has been a
mainstay in the team under Daniel Farke, making 48 appearances so far this
season across all competitions.
Ampadu’s versatility has been key, with him operating both
in midfield and defence for large parts of the campaign.
As well as his ability on the pitch, the Welsh international
has also captained the side on a number of occasions, showing his leadership
qualities.
During an Emirates FA Cup tie away at Peterborough United in
January, he also scored his first goals for the club, netting twice in the
fixture to help secure progress into the next round.
Following an outstanding first season with the club, Ampadu
has been recognised with this award which was voted for by the Leeds United
fanbase.
He will now be looking to continue helping Farke’s side as
they aim for a strong finish to the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
