Daniel Farke makes frank Leeds United admission as Leicester City reclaim top spot — Leeds Live 6/4/24
Leeds United dropped out of the Championship automatic promotion places after losing 2-1 away to Coventry City this afternoon
Daniel Farke admitted his Leeds United players failed to win
the "decisive duels" as they missed the opportunity to go top of the
Championship. The Whites suffered their first defeat in 16 league outings,
losing 2-1 at play-off chasing Coventry City.
Goals either side of half time from Ellis Simms and Haji
Wright earned the Sky Blues three priceless points in their promotion bid.
Substitute Joel Piroe gave United hope with 14 minutes remaining but it proved
too little too late as United lost for the first time in 2024.
Farke congratulated Coventry on picking up maximum points,
calling them a "good opponent". But Farke stressed: "We
dominated here against a good possession side, nearly 70 per cent possession.
(We had) more shots on target. Stats were good for an away game.
"(We) did not win the decisive duels. (The) first goal
conceded out of our corner. Their counter created their first corner from their
first chance.
"We allow ourselves to suffer a little. (I) don't want
to be too bullish after a loss. I like to stay humble and self-critical.
"(It's) not the day for fighting messages. After a loss
you should stay calm. Be analytical tomorrow about the game and from tomorrow
afternoon we go again."
