Victor Orta decides on Jesse Marsch future as Leeds United manager amid discontent in squad - MOT Leeds News 18/1/23

Jesse Marsch still has the support of Victor Orta despite
pressure building on the Leeds United manager, according to The Telegraph.
Leeds are just two points above the Premier League’s
relegation zone and are winless in their last seven matches across all
competitions.
MOT Leeds News exclusively reported on Tuesday (16 January)
that discontent is growing behind the scenes at Elland Road and a group of
senior players have gone to the board to call for Marsch to be sacked.
However, The Telegraph reported via their website late on
Tuesday that director of football Orta still fully supports Marsch and “wants
the American to be given every chance of success”.
Signing Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim last week suggests
that Orta is giving Marsch “the tools to turn results around”.
Marsch’s job is probably safe as long as Leeds aren’t too
close to the Premier League’s relegation zone.
While they’re only two points away from it as it stands,
they’re 14th in the table and there are plenty of teams in the relegation mix
who are doing worse.
Southampton, Everton and West Ham currently occupy the
bottom three, showing that the bigger clubs in the division aren’t immune to
potentially going down this season.
And Leeds did act to sack club legend Marcelo Bielsa last
February when the going started to get too tough.
Marsch hasn’t exactly won over all Leeds fans in his time at
Elland Road.
Sure, he may come across as a nice guy but that has nothing
to do with his ability to manage this team and whether or not he’s a popular
character in the dressing room.
Marsch has pushed out senior players at Leeds and replaced
them with those he’s managed at previous clubs.
