Leeds United senior players tell board to sack Jesse Marsch as behind-the-scenes unrest grows - MOT Leeds News 17/1/23

Jesse Marsch’s future as Leeds United manager is in serious
doubt with a number of senior players turning on the American, MOT Leeds News understands.
Leeds are 14th in the Premier League table and their winless
run extended to seven games in all competitions with a 2-1 defeat away at Aston
Villa on Friday night (13 January).
As it stands, the Whites are just two points clear of the
Premier League’s relegation zone and Marsch’s leadership of the team has
started to cause major unrest behind the scenes at Elland Road.
MOT Leeds News has been told by a source close to Thorp Arch
that a number of senior players have grouped together and told the board they
want Marsch to be sacked.
The 49-year-old replaced Marcelo Bielsa as the Leeds United
manager on 28 February 2022.
He’s since won nine of the 33 matches he’s managed,
including a win away at Brentford to survive Premier League relegation on the
final day of last season.
However, after achieving top-flight safety last season,
Leeds’ Premier League status is once again under threat and there are now
serious relegation concerns among certain members of the squad at Elland Road.
After an FA Cup third-round replay against Cardiff on
Wednesday night (18 January), Leeds face a run of games featuring a number of
relegation rivals.
This weekend, Leeds welcome Brentford to Elland Road (22
January) before playing Nottingham Forest away, Manchester United at home,
Everton away and Southampton at home.
