Leeds to pay FULL €21M plus interest for Augustin - Leeds Press 7/12/22

Leeds United will pay the full sum of €21m, plus €340,000 in
interest, to RB Liepzig for Jean-Kevin Augustin.
According to BILD, after RB Liepzig and Leeds United settled
their two-year transfer dispute, the two clubs have agreed to details of
payment. Leeds will pay the full €21M plus interest for Augustin, but Liepzig
have ‘made concessions’ over how the payment will be made.
Leeds owed Leipzig €21m following Augustin’s loan deal in
2020, due to a clause inserted for Leeds to sign him on a permanent basis if
they were promoted to the Premier League that year. Due to Covid pandemic, the
league went on a break. Leeds argued that because of the break, the clause for
Augustin was invalid due date set for the clause to be activated. The case was
taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who ruled in Leipzig’s favour a
month ago.
BILD’s information reveals that Liepzig will demand the full
transfer fee plus interest, however, the club will ‘accommodate’ the payment.
The report says the German club will allow Leeds to pay the fee over
instalments rather than all at once.
Both sides can finally move on from this issue which has
been dragging on for almost three years.
