Klich set to leave in January - Leeds Press 9/12/22

Mateusz Klich has been on the fringes of the first team this season and is looking for a way out this January.

The 32-year-old has only played 199 minutes this season in the Premier League, with his only starts this campaign coming in the EFL cup. Reports claim Klich’s absence from the Poland squad at the World Cup was due to his lack of game time at club level.

Polish press SportoweFakty report that the midfielder is not happy at the club. The report claims Klich is looking to leave in January, with DC United and Royal Antwerp the main suitors.

DC United is showing interest in the player, and the MLS team has been “very intensely” inquiring about him. MLS sides are very interested in bringing him in as reported in November. Moving to DC United would see him play under Wayne Rooney.

The other option is in Belgium, with Royal Antwerp keen on adding his experience to the squad. The club are currently third in the league and could use Klich’s experience to push for more.

The Pole’s contract runs out in 2024, and with the club not looking to renew anytime soon, Klich could depart the club within the next month.
