The agent of Uruguay international midfielder Nahitan
Nandez, Pablo Bentancur, has provided quotes to Leeds United podcast
‘lufcfanzone’ suggesting a move to Leeds would be of strong interest to the
Cagliari midfielder.
There have been stories floating around for a while linking
Nandez to Leeds, with a rumoured fee of around £30m. Which most people agree is
more than Leeds should pay if they were to do the deal.
As with all stories like this the usual caveats apply, the
agent could be talking to try and make the move happen - or to scare other
teams into jumping the gun/raising their offers.
With the previous this particular podcast has in the agent
world, I believe the quotes to be genuine.
Bentancur said the following: “Our wish is to play in
England; if it is with Leeds United that would be much better.
“Cagliari President Giulili and Radrizzani are very close
friends and have already spoken. It is in the goodwill of these 2 presidents to
close the operation.
“The president of Cagliari promised Nahitan that if he
helped save the club from relegation, he would help with a move to a bigger
club. There are 2 big clubs in Italy negotiating, but we believe England is our
first option.
“Nahitan already wanted to sign with Leeds and Bielsa when
he was at Boca. England is more his type of football and Leeds would be ideal
because of the style of play and because the player grows and becomes important
under pressure.”
The final paragraph of that does line up with some old
stories linking Leeds with a move for Nandez, but that could be just to make it
sound better.
