YEP 26/6/21 IN LEEDS WE TRUST: "Our murals are a fantastic symbol of the connection between the club and the city"
And as quick as that, the Group Stage of the Euros is over.
By The Board Of The Leeds United Supporters Trust
Commiserations to Leeds United’s own Ezgjan Alioski, Mateusz
Klich and Liam Cooper who unfortunately won’t be progressing to the knockout
rounds with North Macedonia, Poland and Scotland. And of course, we must
congratulate all our other players at the tournament who will be moving into
the next phase of the competition with their countries.
A special mention has to go to Kalvin Phillips for the
incredible role he has played in England’s tournament so far. The only outfield
player to have played every minute of the competition, Kalvin has overseen
three successive clean sheets following that incredible performance in the
first game where he picked up an assist. Watching a player we have all known
and loved for so long thrive on the international stage has without a doubt
been the most rewarding aspect of the tournament so far.
After finishing top of the group Kalvin and England face a
tough first knockout game against a strong Germany side – including Leeds’
Robin Koch – at Wembley on Tuesday.
You may have already seen on the Trust’s social media
channels that shortly after the success of our mural dedicated to our club
legends in Pudsey Market, work has already begun on our next mural. You’ll be
seeing more information on this very soon so make sure to keep an eye out.
Thanks go to the FSA and Anwar Uddin for their help with the funding on this
one.
Our murals are a fantastic symbol of the connection between
the club and the city and something we value immensely, perhaps the greatest
symbol of our club however is of course Elland Road and with the recent news
that plans for a new training ground on the former Matthew Murray High School
site are being scrapped in favour of expanding the stadium to a capacity of
55,000 there will be a lot of attention dedicated to Elland Road in the near
future.
The Trust will be keeping a close eye on the stadium
redevelopment as plans continue to emerge and ensuring that as the club
progresses the interests of the fans are kept in focus. With this in mind the Trust
had a meeting with Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear earlier this week.
The meeting shed some light on the club’s plans regarding
the stadium redevelopment and a number of other issues such as distribution of
home and away tickets next season, the current fan led review into English
football and any planned celebrations of the team’s recent success. If you are
already a member of the Trust you will have received an email regarding these
talks and the information we heard from Angus.
Adding your own voice to the Trust’s work is easy. Visit our

Marching on together.
