YEP 21/6/21 Leeds United open to further talks with Gjanni Alioski as he prepares for one final shop window opportunity
Gjanni Alioski has one final game in the shop window today before deciding his Leeds United future.

The left-back will feature for North Macedonia in their
final Euro 2020 Group C game against the Netherlands in Amsterdam. Alioski is
yet to accept the offer tabled by the Whites, which still stands, ahead of the
expiration of his Elland Road contract on June 30 (Wednesday week).
The 29-year-old has had interest from elsewhere, including
clubs in Turkey, but Leeds who felt their post-season discussions with Alioski
were positive, are adamant he remains very welcome to stay and would be open to
further discussions with the player and his representatives.
Playing a key role for his national team at a major
tournament was a well-timed opportunity for Alioski to attract other offers,
but barring the miraculous, North Macedonia will exit the competition at the
group stage.
His attention will then turn to the future and a decision on
whether or not he wants to stay and fight for a place in Marcelo Bielsa’s team
or go elsewhere for first-team football.
With Leeds in the market for a new left-back and quietly
confident they can land their prime target, Alioski’s game time is under
threat. He started 29 Premier League games last season and will face stiff
competition in the Whites' second top flight campaign as they look to improve
on a ninth-place finish.
Were he to remain however, for a fifth season at Elland
Road, he could delay a return to mainland Europe by a year or two and cement
his status as a fan favourite and promotion hero to earn the kind of send-off
supporters afforded to both Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi when they played
their final game against West Brom at the end of last term.
