Leeds United: Midfielder Cook will miss Charlton trip as he recovers from injury
Yorkshire Evening Post 17/4/15
Injured midfielder Lewis Cook will be absent from Leeds United’s squad again tomorrow.
Cook, who suffered ankle ligament damage on international duty a month ago, has missed the last four games and will not play at Charlton Athletic, with head coach Neil Redfearn insisting the 18-year-old “owes us nothing.”
“He’s in rehab and he’s doing light things,” Redfearn said.
“We’ve got the protective boot off him which is good but what’s important is that he’s available when he’s properly ready.
“I don’t want to rush him and give him a problem long-term. He’s only a young guy and he owes us nothing. He’s done his bit this season.”
Cook, 18, has been one of the outstanding members of United’s squad this term, playing 38 times in his maiden year as a first-team player. He was injured during an appearance for England’s Under-19s in France.
United have no fresh absentees but Aidan White, Tommaso Bianchi and Zan Benedicic are all short of full fitness.
Winger White and on loan midfielder Benedicic have been missing since before Christmas after foot and knee surgery respectively and Italian midfielder Bianchi is unlikely to recover from a knee operation before the season ends.
