Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino has revealed the reason thatDarko Milanic decided to come to Elland Road.
Massimo Cellino says that Darko Milanic has come to Leeds to be part of the exciting project that he can see developing at the club.
In his programme notes last night, Cellino revealed that Milanic was not at Elland Road to collect a pay-cheque, but because he was thinking of the future of the club.
The outspoken Italian owner said: "I believe Darko is the right man for Leeds United. I wanted to bring in a coach who has international experience and that is what Darko has.
"He has left a club from the top league in Austria to come to Leeds and I can tell you he hasn't come for the money.
"He has come to Leeds as he can see something is happening here and he wanted to be a part of that, and I wanted him to come and help us.
"We have a lot of different nationalities in our squad now, and a Slovenian head coach, but that doesn't matter, they are all now Leeds."
Milanic is already under pressure after his first two games in charge have been rather disappointing.
The Slovenian took over from Neil Redfearn, who had guided the Whites to 10 points out of 12 during his time as caretaker boss, and he is still looking for his first victory.
After a defeat to Brentford at the weekend, Leeds could only manage a draw against Reading last night and it has been a worrying decline in form.
Milanic has already admitted that Cellino will only give him time if he is picking up results and he will need to get a win sooner rather than later.
The Leeds owner has a reputation for being reactionary and too many more defeats could have disastrous consequences.
The Yorkshire side take on local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in a game which already appears of great importance.
Leeds are determined to push themselves into the promotion places this campaign and a win against Owls will restore some confidence around Elland Road after a concerning start from their new manager.
