Jason Pearce gives his verdict on the Bournemouth victory

Skipper Jason Pearce says that United showed great determination on Tuesday night to overcome Bournemouth at the Goldsands Stadium.
Last season’s defeat at Bournemouth was on Jason’s mind and he says when they took the early lead he feared the worst against his former side.
United trailed 1-0 at half time but three second half goals, all from new signings, secured maximum points.
“Last time we came here was my first time coming back since I played here,” said Jason. “To lose 4-1 last season was really disappointing.
“Going back on Tuesday night that result was in my mind and as a team we wanted to give a much better performance.
“In the first half I feared the worst when they scored but the lads showed great determination to stick in there.
“Redders gave us a bit of a telling of at half time and we showed great character to get back into it and eventually win the game.”
The skipper went on to say how United showed belief to go on and win the game in the second half.
“If we were two or three down then it would have been difficult,” explained Pearce. “But going in at 1-0 and after Redders giving us a telling off we had to show belief that we could go on and get a result.
“The lads were superb and the work rate from the boys was brilliant.
“Defensively as a team we were brilliant and we took our goals on the counter-attack well. And Peppe’s free-kick was brilliant as well so we are delighted.
“I don’t know where that free-kick came from. I don’t even think he knew where it came from because when he scored he just stopped.
“Then when he realised that it had gone in he celebrated. Obviously we are delighted for him.
“Mirco got the third, he worked so hard on Tuesday and he deserved his goal.”
United are now three games unbeaten but Jason insists the squad won’t be getting ahead of themselves.
“We aren’t going to get carried away,” stated the skipper. “Bournemouth will be up there this season as they are a very good team.
“We will keep our feet on the ground and it doesn’t mean anything if we don’t get a result against Huddersfield on Saturday.”
