Cellino: 'I never left Cagliari'

Football Italia 6/4/14
Massimo Cellino has the all-clear to buy Leeds United, but assures Cagliarifans “I’ve never left.”
He has been President of Cagliari for 22 years and there are huge question marks over the future of the club.
Cellino won his appeal against the Football League, who barred him from completing a 75% buy-out of English Championship side Leeds.
There are protests planned around this afternoon’s Cagliari-Roma game to ask for guarantees on their future now that the patron has a new club.
“I’ve never left,” Cellino told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Someone has misunderstood. We will achieve safety.”
According to the Corriere dello Sport, there are negotiations on-going with the Qatar Foundation, who also control Paris Saint-Germain.
Newspaper L’Unione Sarda insists the talks are with an American conglomerate and their emissary Luca Silverstone.
The US investors would only be prepared to buy Cagliari if it meant getting the go-ahead to build a new stadium, so negotiations are with the local council as much as with Cellino.
