Brian to cure his winger woes with a Sharp remedy?

Brian McDermott rued missing out on one wide player today, believed to be Birmigham's Chris Burke but speculation suggests he may use the emergency loan market to bring in a striker instead and one who's been linked to Leeds more than once!
McDermott today revealed he had baulked at signing a wide player on Monday, believed to be Chris Burke of Birmingham City as the fee for a "30 year old" was "600 grand". McDermott pointed out that the player could leave his present club on a free next summer, all appears to fit Burke's bill.
Whikst Burke would be a good addition to the squad, you can't really blame McDermott for taking this stance. After all we are not like Man City who can fork out £4m on a player who moved for free in the summer eg Martin Demichelis. Given Birmingham's current ownership predicament, their owner Carson Yeung is presently under house arrest in Hong Kong waiting to answer money laundering charges, I'm surprised they drove such a hard bargain over Burke who Neil Warnock also tried and failed to sign. Maybe we can try again in January or even makes cheeky bid when the emergency transfer-window opens next week.
However speculation has now turned to a forward to pep up our shot shy attack and once again, Billy Sharp's name is being linked with a move to Elland Road. Sharp, 27, is currently out of favour at Southampton. Last season he bagged 10 goals on loan at Forest and also was a prolific scorer in the lower leagues whilst at Doncaster and Scunthorpe. He also played for Sheffield United twice. Even though his time at Southampton has been restricted to just 17 starts, he has managed 9 goals for them and would be more than welcome at Elland Road.
McDermott also revealed he was close to loaning out a player who is clearly not part of his plans, however the player who is believed to be Aidy White stayed out rather than go to Barnsley.
