Leeds United eyeing sporting director as Farke set to be given more transfer power — Sport Witness 6/3/25
By Sean Lunt
Leeds United could be set to bolster their team above Daniel
Farke with the arrival of sporting director Samir Arabi.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who report that Arabi could
be set to move to Leeds to work alongside Daniel Farke.
They explain that Arabi, who is currently a free agent after
leaving Arminia Bielefeld in 2023 after seven years with the club as managing
director of sport. He was previously the director of football at the club for
five years between 2011 and 2016.
He’s on Leeds’ list and the idea is that he could support
Farke with transfers and help them to exploit the German market further.
They’ve had success there before with signings such as Ilia
Gruev, Maximilian Wöber, Joshua Guilavogui and Ao Tanaka.
Arabi has detailed knowledge of the market and Leeds could
use that to their advantage, particularly if they make it back to the Premier
League this season.
His arrival would be part of a complete management
restructuring at Elland Road, with current CEO Angus Kinnear reportedly moving
to Everton.
That will lead to a shake-up and Farke being given more
support and influence in transfer matters, perhaps alongside Arabi.
