Chelsea circling key Leeds United figure as search for significant appointment continues - Leeds All Over 21/9/22

Chelsea are admirers of Leeds United Director of Football
Victor Orta.
That’s according to a report from The Daily Telegraph, who
say that it remains to be seen whether the Blues will look to bring the
Spaniard.
New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has wasted little time in
putting his mark on the club, following up a busy transfer window by sacking
Thomas Tuchel, and appointing Graham Potter as manager.
However, it seems he is not stopping there, with Chelsea now
seemingly looking to appoint a new Sporting Director.
They were dealt a blow in their attempts to do that earlier
this week, when Christoph Freund confirmed he has turned down a move to
Stamford Bridge, in order to remain at RB Salzburg.
Now it seems as though that is something that could see
Chelsea turn their attentions to Elland Road, with this latest update claiming
that the club are admirers of Victor Orta.
It is thought that they have yet to decide whether to make a
move for the Leeds transfer supremo, but that his name has been mentioned as a
potential candidate for the role at Stamford Bridge.
This is an interesting one to consider from a Leeds United
perspective.
Orta’s passion for the club has certainly made him a popular
figure since he arrived at Elland Road, and he has made some appointments that
have proved key to their return to the Premier League.
However, there have also been certain signings or decisions made
by him, that have not paid off anywhere near as much, not least an almost
costly quiet spell in the transfer market last season.
You wonder therefore, whether there may be mixed feelings
among Leeds fans about these links, although the reputation Orta has, arguably
means they are no huge surprise.
