Stuart Dallas could be out for six months as Leeds United rocked by injury blow - MOT Leeds News 4/5/22

Stuart Dallas is set to spend six months on the sidelines after the Leeds United star broke his leg at the weekend, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition today that Dallas, 31, has undergone surgery in London on a fractured femur he sustained in a challenge with Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.

It is understood that he’s now on the mend and “could be out for six months”.

Yet another injury woe

If there’s been a theme of the season for Leeds United, it’s been injuries.

Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and now Dallas have all had to suffer with long-term issues this season and those four players are arguably the most important in the squad.

The goalscorer, the playmaker-in-chief, the captain and Mr Reliable.

Dallas can play almost anywhere and usually always plays to a very high standard so to be without him for the rest of this season is a huge blow; to be without him for half a year is earth-shattering.

Whether we’re in the Premier League or Championship next season, not having Dallas available until around November time is going to be a massive issue and it means that Leeds will have to sign players in multiple positions.

Dallas provides cover at left-back, right-back and in the centre of the midfield while he’s also capable of playing on either wing.

Leeds cannot go into next season now with Junior Firpo as their only left-back and Luke Ayling as their only right-back.

However, that was the case anyway and Leeds should be trying to sort the squad depth out regardless of what division they’re in and regardless of Dallas’ recovery time.

Dallas’ injury, in terms of this season, is an astronomical blow though as Leeds are already with Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts for the run-in while captain Cooper missed the loss to Manchester City at the weekend too.

Leeds United really don’t need this.
