Thanks for your replies guys. I havent read all the pages in this thread but I understand from the last few pages people are even doubting the existence of Sheik Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
So does he exist? Who is he?
First of all, as mentioned in my last post - don't mix him up with the President of the IAA in Bahrain, Al Fawaz Al Khalifa, who is the guy who denied being a LUFC fan or to buying LUFC on Twitter.
Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa is the man who was mentioned and quoted in media 8-9 years ago relating to a possible takeover. See example 1 from november 2003: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...oad-rescue.html
This is the person being linked a lot of places these days, probably mostly due to the link back in 2003 rather than any leaks. I am not saying he is or isn't involved in the takeover today, just looking into who he is.
Now this man is heavily sports fanatic. Football, horses, winter olympics, you name it (I'll come back to my sources for this). He is so into horse-racing that he as of last summer had an upaid bookmaker debt of £270,000 in London to Spreadex. It would surprise me if you have made nearly 1200 pages of this tread without someone mentioning this?
Link to documentation on gambling debt in Telegraph, februar 2011: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment...-his-plate.html
He then failed to pay it back on deadline a few months later, which meant he was basically "wanted" and authirities given right to seize his passport. Story here: http://abna.co/data.asp?lang=3&Id=252465
I cannot find anything on him after this, so if the debt is still unpaid I don't know. I would suppose he needs to pay it off if he's to visit Elland Road without too much problems.
Now, I asked around to find out more about this man and came across the chairman of Bahrain Public Relations Association (he should be well connected) - Dr. Fahad Al-Shehabi. On twitter he is @DrFAHAD3500
I asked him to do some check-up on Abdulrahman, and this is what he came back with: "He is a business-man with no offical position, his name is Sh Abdulrahman Bin Mubarak Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, 1st Couzin of the Prime Minister (of Bahrain)."
I also asked him if other members of the royal family in Bahrain were Leeds-supporters, since Al Fawaz had denied he was earlier. He replied: "yes alot of them".
So there you go, no formal position but in the entourage (?) of the big guys and undoubdtebly with access to a lot of people with deeper pockets. Not just in Bahrain, obviously.
To take this into further research, it happens to be that two good friends of mine dropped into this guy after a Leeds-match in London years back (2004). He was there with his agent/business representative who lived in London and they ended up talking for most of the evening about Leeds United, all kinds of sports - since my mates are from Norway they even discussed the winter olympics in Lillehammer in 1994. The guy had an interest and knowledge of even gold medal winners from then.
So.
I do not doubt he exist.
I doubt he has a lot of money (as in buying a football club-rich).
I don't doubt he has friends who could do so, especially if merged.
Whether he is actually in this deal - I cannot answer.
