Leeds United Football Club - United Legend Charles Rushed to Hospital

Leeds United's fans thoughts are with John Charles and his familly tonight after he was rushed into hospital for emergency heart surgery. The problem occured just before Charles, 72 was due to go on Italian TV.
One of the greatest players to ever pull on the White shirt of United he enjoyed two spells with the club and made 327 appearances and scored 157 goals. Charles was one of the first players of his era to try his hand abroad and moved for a world record £65,000 to Juventus in 1957. He was a major success there and his honours included three championships, an Italian cup and a Footballer of the Year award and is affectionately remembered as "The Gentle Giant".
In 2001 Charles was awarded a CBE for his services to football and sits second on Leeds' all-time scoring list.
Everyone at Elland Road would like to wish John a speedy recovery and we are sure that Leeds fans everywhere will hope that John makes a full recovery.
