Leeds United Football Club - Bridges Still Part Of Plans
Eddie Gray and Leeds will fight to hang onto Michael Bridges as reports of interest in the striker from other clubs continue.
Bridges has not been involved in the last three of Gray's squads over the Christmas period, leading to increased speculation that he is no longer in his plans at Elland Road, but nothing could be further from the truth.
The 25-year-old has only just recovered from a bout of the flu and is set to return to the bench against Newcastle tonight - one of the clubs supposedly interested in his services.
Claims of a 'row' between Gray and the former Sunderland man are well over the top, although Gray does admit Bridges has grown frustrated at his lack of action since recovering from an Achilles injury he he suffered last season.
"I've spoken to Michael Bridges and we'll review the situation," said Gray. "He's frustrated because it's a been a long time since he played regular football and I understand how he feels. He's been out for a long time now. Sometimes it's not a physical thing and he feels he needs games. I can understand that. He would like to be playing at a higher level than he is, but we may not be able to afford him that luxury at this stage. He'll have to be patient. It could be that he's back in action sooner than he expects."
