Birch says a supermarket could replace Elland Road
Leeds chief executive Trevor Birch has admitted that the club will consider leaving Elland Road.
Defeat at Southampton sent Leeds to the bottom of the Barclaycard Premiership on Saturday and crippling debts mean they may be forced to sell players.
Birch admits Leeds need a new stadium to raise the revenue required to compete at the highest level.
And he believes the site of the current ground would be ideal for redevelopment as a supermarket.
"Yes, it's true we are exploring every option and the possibility is that one day in the future the site will be redeveloped," said Birch.
"We need to have a new stadium, whether it's at Elland Road or elsewhere, to have the revenue needed to compete at the highest level. It's a simple fact of life in the Premiership.
"Redevelopment for the stadium will, at some stage, be the goal but it's a long way down the line. I think it will happen.
"It's in a prime industrial area and would be an ideal site for somewhere like an Asda. It's worth a great deal of money."
