US framework drafted for Elland Road redevelopment, two stands set for change — MOT Leeds News 4/1/24

Leeds United have already drafted the framework of a
redevelopment for Elland Road with two stands facing changes, according to the
Daily Mail.
Writing in their print edition (Daily Mail, page 68, 4
January), journalist Mike Keegan reports that plans are underway to improve the
legendary stadium with the West Stand and North Stand set for revamping.
The 49ers are keen to improve the ground to maximise venue
and make the most of the club’s vast support network having taken over full
control of Leeds from Andrea Radrizzani in the summer.
“Elsenberg has got down to work on stadium redevelopment
Mail Sport understands a framework has already been drafted,” they wrote.
“Work would comment with a long-awaited upgrade on a West
Stand that has barely changed since Don Revie’s days, before moving on to the
North Stand.
“The aim is to maintain the character and atmosphere while
maximising revenue.
“A revamp of the stadium is likely to feature a Levi’s-style
data box, though the name ‘Exec Huddle’ may be Yorkshire-fied.”
Elland Road is one of the most iconic and legendary stadiums
in the country, and potentially across the world because Leeds are a massive
club.
But there is no doubting that the stadium has fallen behind
in recent years with billions of pounds pumped into stadia for the likes of
Tottenham, West Ham, Anfield and Wembley.
The 49ers know the potential that this football club has,
hence them buying the club outright, and they’re putting things in place to
help take the team to the next level off the pitch as well as on it.
Once the team get back to the Premier League then that will
help a lot financially too, but the board is clearly looking to be here for the
long-term and that can only be a good thing.
