Crysencio Summerville has no interest in leaving Leeds United — Leeds Press 4/1/24

Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville has no interest in
leaving Elland Road this January, with multiple clubs watching the player this
season.
After attracting major interest in the summer from big
European clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Summerville’s incredible start to the
season has attracted more suitors recently.
The 22-year old has 12 goals and six assists in the
Championship so far. The Whites are currently in fourth place in the league,
seven points off an automatic promotion place.
Summerville joined Leeds United in 2021 as part of the
club’s policy of recruiting high potential youngsters under Victor Orta.
The Dutch youngster burst onto the scene with Leeds United
in the 2022/23 season in the Premier League and has not looked back since.
Summerville famously scored a winning goal at Anfield after
coming off the bench to hand Liverpool a rare home defeat.
Who is interested ?
According to the report from TEAMTalk, Newcastle are looking
at signing the player. Eddie Howe is looking for more attacking options after
the club’s campaign stuttered in recent weeks – exiting the League Cup,
Champions League and dropping down to midtable in the Premier League all in the
space of a month.
The Magpies’ attack has not been as sharp as previously this
season, with players struggling for goals and form since the festive period.
Newcastle have won just one game in their last seven.
Summer signing Harvey Barnes, who was expected to provide
depth in attack has also been out with a long term injury.
Staying at Leeds United in January may be the smartest move
for Summerville. It puts his focus on securing promotion to the Premier League.
The youngster is already a Premier League calibre player so that’s a stage he
deserves to play, and hopefully he will lead his club there.
A player who knuckled down, shut out the noise earlier this
summer is delivering one of the best seasons by any Leeds United player in
recent years. I believe he will stay and finish the campaign.
Staying and earning promotion to the Premier League also
boosts the player’s value if he ever wants to leave the club. Joining Newcastle
in January, with the club out of all possible competitions and trophies, would
be a waste of time.
