Daniel Farke bins Djed Spence at Leeds United after confrontation with Tottenham player — MOT Leeds News 5/1/24

Daniel Farke opted to cut short Djed Spence’s loan spell at
Leeds United after a confrontation between himself and the player, according to
LUFCFanZone.
Writing on their official Twitter account (5 January), the
fan account which former owner Andrea Radrizzani confirmed has sources within
the club shared that the defender was unhappy about being left on the bench for
the win over Birmingham City.
The confrontation was seen as the “final straw” for Farke
and the manager requested that he be sent back to parent club Tottenham instead
of spending the rest of the season at Elland Road.
“LUFCFANZONE understands that Leeds United terminated Djed
Spence’s loan deal upon Daniel Farke’s request, as the German was not happy
with the 23 year old’s attitude following Leeds’ win over Birmingham City,”
they wrote.
“The final straw between Farke and Spence, following
previous rumours of attitude problems from the Tottenham loanee, was Spence
confronting Farke about the team selection for the Birmingham game and why he
did not start the game after spending the full 90 minutes on the bench.
“Daniel Farke is expected to briefly cover the topic in
today’s pre Peterborough press conference.”
The announcement that came on Thursday evening was a huge
shock for most people, with no insinuation that Spence’s loan deal was ever in
doubt.
But if this is true and Spence was showing attitude about
not playing having already been unavailable for the majority of his time at the
club, then it was the right decision to let him go.
Spence has great ability and would no doubt be a great
option for a Championship side, but Farke wants to know that everyone is
committed to the cause and Spence was clearly in it for himself.
Side before self is the motto at Elland Road and
unfortunately Spence didn’t fall into that category. His development is also
not more important for Whites players like Archie Gray, who has a long-term
future at the club rather than just making Spence better for someone else.
