SAM ALLARDYCE: WE’LL FIGHT WITH THE RIGHT TEMPERAMENT AND CONTROL - Leedsunited.com 19/5/23
Leeds United face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday lunchtime (1:30pm), in their final away match of the Premier League season.
The Whites travel south looking for the points against the
Hammers, who have had a successful week themselves, making the final of the
Europa Conference League on Thursday night.
Speaking ahead of the match, Sam Allardyce previewed the
game with the media at Thorp Arch.
He said: “We’ll fight until the end, but fight with the
right temperament and control, don’t lose control and don’t lose the game plan.
“We probably can normally guess their team that will be
picked, but it’s very difficult to pick this one because obviously looking at
Brentford last week, they made nine changes.
“Our preparation is to try as best we can to predict a team
and how West Ham play, then practice against that offensively and
defensively.
“We won’t really know what the team will be until we get the
email to tell us the team he’s [David Moyes] picked.
“We might need to have a little chat with players before
they go out, they might change the team but play the same way.
“But, I am pleased for him [Moyes], I’ve known him many many
years, I recommended Preston signed him many years ago.
"He came from Scotland and has had a fantastic career.
I’m glad to see he’s brought so much to West Ham after having a difficult
season in the league.
“It’ll be good to see him, but hopefully after when we have
a drink, we have three points, not him.”
The head coach gave an update on team news, prior to the
team travelling to East London over the weekend.
"Only Stuart Dallas, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra
are out,” Allardyce stated.
“Liam Cooper is back in training, and Marc Roca has a
patellar tendon injury, so not too bad.
“We’ve been talking about that in terms of who do we fit into
that position [left-back, following Junior Firpo’s suspension].
“Or, do we change the system to a different way of playing.
“We have got to look at what West Ham did last night and
last week at Brentford, then look at who we have available to pick a system to
suit our team that is available and/or compete against West Ham.”
