Finance Expert: 49ers Enterprises take fascinating stance over Leeds United takeover - MOT Leeds News 12/2/23
By Dan Plumley
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel
Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the
biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted that the 49ers Enterprises
committing to the Leeds United takeover regardless of Premier League relegation
is nothing short of fascinating.
The NFL-based consortium have ensured that relegation from
the Premier League won’t deter them from completing their full takeover of the
club from Andrea Radrizzani this year.
Plumley did admit that valuations would likely fluctuate
should the worst happen, but Leeds fans should see this as a massive positive
for the future of the club.
“It’s fascinating isn’t it,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds
News.
“We’ve said all along that this deal looks likely to be
done, again, this is another real positive for the club that even if the worst
was to happen, the 49ers are still saying that the takeover is regardless of
Premier League relegation.
“So, I think that for the club, we take forward as a
positive, the valuation would of course fluctuate, dependent on being a Premier
League club versus a Championship club.
“As an example, if you were to enact a takeover in the
Championship, you might have slightly less of a valuation. Given the precarious
nature of being at risk of relegation, I think the only way you can look at
this as a Leeds United fan is positive that they are committed to that cause,
whether or not they are a Premier League club.”
The only person who would be affected by the price
fluctuating is Radrizzani, who would get less money.
It would not bother the fans one little bit, who will still get their new owners regardless, although staying in the Premier League is the only thing that matters right now.
