Raphinha has rejected Liverpool; Minamino would've joined Leeds - The Boot Room 6/6/22
By Jordan Harris
Raphinha has rejected an offer from Liverpool, with the Reds
prepared to send Takumi Minamino to Elland Road in a bid to sign the Leeds
United this summer, according to a report from Sport.
Another day, another host of reports concerning Raphinha.
For much of the year, it has appeared that he may be Barcelona-bound. In fact,
reports have claimed that he has already agreed personal terms on a five-year
deal at the Nou Camp.
However, the two clubs find themselves some way apart in
their valuations of the Brazil international. Leeds want at least £56 million.
And with that, Liverpool appeared to return to the race.
Reports at the weekend suggested that Jurgen Klopp wants
Raphinha as Sadio Mane’s replacement amid speculation over the forward’s
future.
And it seems that some kind of offer has now been made to
the Leeds talisman. Sport suggests that Raphinha has rejected the chance to
join Liverpool. He apparently only has eyes for Barcelona.
Leeds however, were open to the possibility of doing
business with the Reds. And Sport suggests that Klopp’s men were prepared to
include Minamino in a bid for the winger.
There have been plenty of updates from Spain on what the
future holds for Raphinha. And it may well be that he is indeed prioritising a
move to Barcelona.
However, he would surely be open to the possibility of
joining Liverpool. The Reds were on for an incredible quadruple right until the
final day of the Premier League campaign this past season.
So it would be a surprise if he ruled a move out at this
stage. Ultimately, if Barcelona are not prepared to pay the money, Leeds are not
going to do business, it seems.
Raphinha – who is an ‘unbelievable‘ player – may also not
take too kindly to Barca’s reluctance to meet the asking price. If they were
that desperate, surely there would not be talk of the Catalan giants wanting to
pay no more than £34 million.
