Leeds United break Premier League record for most yellow cards in a single season - The Athletic 9/5/22

Leeds United have broken the Premier League record for most
yellow cards recorded in a single campaign.
Jesse Marsch’s side have been shown 96 yellow cards in
2021-22, topping Sunderland’s tally of 94 from 2014-15.
The mark was broken when Raphinha was given a yellow card in
the first-half against Arsenal — the Brazilian winger was protesting referee
Chris Kavanagh’s decision to upgrade Luke Ayling’s punishment for a two-footed
challenge to a straight red.
Mateusz Klich subsequently recorded Leeds' 96th booking as
Arsenal took a 2-0 lead into half-time.
Last season, under Marcelo Biesla, Leeds only gave away the
sixth-most yellow cards, with 61. Sheffield United led the way with 73.
However, this campaign they have been given 20 more yellows
than their nearest challengers — Aston Villa and Newcastle with 76.
Junior Firpo has received 10 yellows, while Rodrigo has
gathered eight.
Manchester City are the cleanest side in the league, having
accrued only 39 cautions.
Leeds are 18th as scores stand, Everton’s 2-1 lead over
Leicester City taking the Merseyside club outside the relegation zone.
