Marsch confident he will be in charge of Leeds next season — whether or not they go down - The Athletic 20/5/22

Jesse Marsch is confident he will still be Leeds head coach
next season — whether or not his side are relegated this weekend.
Leeds go into their final game of the season against
Brentford on Sunday in 18th place. They are on level points with Burnley, who
are 17th and play Newcastle, but with a vastly worse goal difference.
Marsch signed a three-year contract with Leeds on February
28 and he is assured they will continue their long-term project.
Asked whether he will be at Elland Road whether or not they
stay up, he said: "Absolutely. When we talked about coming, this was about
a long term project. I'm thankful that the club committed to me in that way.
"You always know as a manager that when things get
tough, you never know what the future can hold but I believe that the
connections we've made and the style and ideas of what we think this football
life is really mesh well together.
"The support I've had from everyone has been amazing
but right now in this moment, I'm not thinking about the long term project. I'm
thinking only about Sunday and doing everything we can to prepare
ourselves."
On talks with the board at Leeds, he added: "We've not
had any communication other than to say that they've done some behind the
scenes planning to make sure that we're in good shape in any direction that the
season might go in — financially, the player pool.
"What the future will bring, we're very secure and able
to move forward in a positive direction which they said to me from the very
beginning. Before I came here and asked the questions about what will it look
like if it goes in this direction, what will it look like if it goes in that
direction, they were clear that they had a plan and there was clarity already.
"In that sense, they've left me alone to not have to
focus on anything other than the job in hand and to make sure I do everything I
can to keep us up."
Marsch has won three of his 11 games since joining Leeds.
