Emi Buendia is a name that refuses to go away at Leeds
United in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Buendia made a name for himself in England under Daniel
Farke at Norwich City, before securing a big-money move to Aston Villa in 2021.
However, the Argentine’s move to Villa hasn’t worked out,
and reports have surfaced that Leeds are interested in bringing Buendia to
Elland Road on deadline day.
Leeds are struggling to get deals done, and what sources
close to the club have said won’t give supporters hope of that changing.
Leeds‘ poor deadline day activity is set to continue as a
deal for Buendia is looking increasingly unlikely.
Leeds Live are reporting that a source close to the Whites
has outlined that a deal for the Argentine is not on the cards as of now.
Buendia was linked with Leeds back in January as his game
time continued to diminish, but he instead went out on loan to Bayer
Leverkusen.
The midfielder scored just twice in 14 outings in Germany
last season, while also making two substitute appearances so far this season at
Villa Park.
Leeds are in desperate need of attacking talent to improve
their chances of survival, with Daniel Farke speaking to the media about how he
can’t survive without reinforcements.
However, Buendia isn’t enough to move the needle and keep
the Yorkshire side up.
The Argentine has never been able to prove himself in the
Premier League with either Norwich or Villa, and Farke’s current options are
arguably better than what Buendia would provide.
If Leeds want to improve their chances of survival, they
need to bring in players who are proven in the league and know how to handle
survival fights, but they haven’t got long left to strike in the transfer
market.
