Leeds United confirm late exit as midfielder seals permanent move away — Leeds Live 1/9/25
The midfielder leaves for nothing, with a year left on his contract, but with a big potential sell-on clause attached
Leeds United have confirmed the permanent exit of Darko
Gyabi to Hull City. The 21-year-old becomes the club's third senior sale of the
window.
It’s understood via colleagues at Hull Live that, despite
having a year left on his deal, the permanent move contains no fee amid Hull’s
transfer embargo. However, a sell-on clause, potentially as high as 50 percent,
has been included.
The midfielder - who cost £5million from Manchester City in
2022 - was not a part of Daniel Farke's plans this season, and was not used at
all during pre-season. Gyabi spent last season at Plymouth Argyle, playing 48
games which included 34 Championship starts.
The pivot played five senior games for United, first making
his debut in a League Cup defeat to Wolves in September 2022. He made his
Premier League debut three months later against Manchester City in a 3-1 loss
at Elland Road.
Leeds have amassed an initial £8.6million from the permanent
sales of Gyabi, Sam Greenwood and Rasmus Kristensen, whose fee with Eintracht
Frankfurt could increase from its £5.5m figure to £7.7m.
Leeds have also gained a small fee from the loan of Max
Wober to Werder Bremen and the academy sale of defender Diogo Monteiro, with a
large sell-on clause attached with that deal. But in the short term, Leeds have
barely acquired £10m in sales.
Isaac Schmidt’s loan to Bremen contains a purchase clause,
as does Wober’s. The loan exits of Largie Ramzani (Valencia), Mateo Joseph
(Mallorca) and Joe Gehardt (Hull) do not contain purchase options.
