Leeds United could sign key target before July as Premier League club fear PSR deadline — Leeds United News 26/6/25

The Profit & Sustainability Rules deadline is fast
approaching on June 30 and for clubs in danger of breaking rules, they will
need to sell before the deadline strikes.
Last season, it saw Leeds have to offload one key player
before the deadline and it came in the form of Archie Gray. The Thorp Arch
product completed a £40m move to Tottenham before the deadline struck.
Now promoted, Leeds do not have to be concerned with
breaking PSR guidelines though it is something they are remaining aware of.
Leeds have identified Pascal Struijk and Willy Gnonto as profitable sales.
However, Leeds can take advantage of other Premier League
clubs needing to make a big sale for the deadline and one club in danger of
failing to meet the guidelines are Aston Villa, under Unai Emery.
Aston Villa need to sell and Leeds can take advantage
A report from Give Me Sport says Aston Villa do have to sell
players before the 30 June deadline in order to comply with PSR, and failure to
do so could see Emery’s men incur a points deduction next season.
Well, Leeds are certainly interested in one of Aston Villa’s
players and it is Emi Buendia. LeedsUnited.News understands that Leeds will
either sign Buendia or Gustavo Hamer with The Whites keen on a new no.10.
Buendia has long been linked with a move to Leeds, choosing
Leverkusen in January as he refused to drop into the Championship. Now
promoted, Leeds have every chance of signing Buendia this summer.
Given Aston Villa’s status in regards to PSR, Emery’s men
may be willing to accept a cut-price offer before the PSR deadline and Leeds
should be looking to take full advantage and finally lure Buendia to Leeds.
How much do Aston Villa want to sell Emi Buendia this summer
Of course, a move to Leeds would see Buendia form a reunion
with Daniel Farke. Farke praised Buendia in January amid the links, with the
Argentine enjoying the best form of his career under Farke’s guidance.
Reports this week say Villa are open to cashing in on
Buendia for £20m, half the price they paid for the former Getafe man. Leeds
have shown they are more than willing to part with this kind of fee on a
player.
Indeed, the club are said to have made two bids for Habib
Diarra above the £20m mark. Villa need to sell, are open to selling Buendia and
need to make a sale before the deadline. Leeds then, need to act.
