Paraag Marathe’s Rangers comment actually teases new Leeds United transfer advantage — Leeds All Over 25/6/25

Leeds United are not the only club coming under the 49ers
Enterprises’ stewardship this summer after a huge takeover of Rangers up in
Scotland, and Paraag Marathe’s newest comments are good news for both.
The 49ers’ ambition extends well beyond getting Leeds back
into the Premier League as an established outfit, but is looking to see them
competing with the big boys once more, as well as making Rangers regular
challengers in the Scottish Premiership once more.
They have a long way to go in catching up to their Glasgow
rivals Celtic, but proof of their capacity for a rebuild is there in Leeds’
promotion back to the top flight, something Leeds fans hope is capitalised on
with survival.
Paraag Marathe makes 49ers, Rangers transfer admission that
Leeds United will benefit from too
It’s a huge summer for both clubs coming under the 49ers
umbrella, and the pressure is on chairman Paraag Marathe to deliver the goods
both at Leeds, as well as at Ibrox where he is vice-chairman.
The 49ers being one of sports biggest and most recognisable
brands across the globe is something that the Leeds chief is planning to
utilise at Elland Road and in Glasgow too, knowing that there is a certain draw
that such a big sporting name can have for any transfer targets.
Rangers’ EGM allowed Marathe an opportunity to map out his
vision for the club, in which his transfer negotiation strategy got a mention,
which Leeds should benefit from too.
“I think it is pretty objectively true that the San
Francisco 49ers are one of the biggest sports brands in the world. And,
certainly, one of the most recognisable,” he said, quoted by the Daily Mail.
“Rangers is a gem of European football. What the 49ers can
bring is a certain global gravitas and awareness to Rangers. Take the States or
other places where the 49ers are top of mind. Now all of a sudden Rangers are
in that same sentence.
“Why does that matter? It matters when we are out with
commercial partners who care about how many times they are going to be
mentioned, how many times their name will come up. That has monetary value. It
has helped us with Leeds. In terms of one not being subordinate to the other,
selfishly speaking, it actually helps the 49ers, too.
“I know from my experience at Leeds, it matters to players
that we are out recruiting. ‘Oh wait, a second, the 49ers are involved in
this’. That helps us in the recruitment of players.”
Leeds United must attract huge quality signings to Elland
Road this summer, Jaka Bijol is a great start
Leeds have two signings on the board so far in Lukas Nmecha
and Jaka Bijol, and both are helping the side get to another level.
Bijol in particular is a real coup and should elevate Leeds’
defensive quality quite drastically for next season, and it’s exactly what
Marathe was talking about.
Leeds, Rangers and the 49ers are all massive global names
and that means something to players wanting to make their next move, which we
need to be taking advantage of when recruiting players.
