Sam Byram: We need to keep grinding out these wins — Leedsunited.com 12/11/24
Leeds United roared back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, thanks to goals from Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe.
Following defeat midweek away at Millwall, Daniel Farke’s
side bounced back at Elland Road to keep pace towards the top of the Sky Bet
Championship table.
After the clash, versatile defender Sam Byram, deployed as a
left-back by his manager, was pleased with the side’s performance against the
Hoops.
“After a tough midweek away game, it is always the aim to
return to winning ways,” he told LUTV. "And to do it with a clean sheet at
home, we have got the job done. We have seen it time and time again here at
Elland Road that teams come and all of a sudden they are playing in a back five
and it makes it so hard to break them down. It was good that we went in 1-0 up,
but a lapse in concentration and they can be back in the game. The second goal
at the end was nice to just kill it off, but yeah, you need full concentration
throughout the whole 90 minutes. They are a tough team. You look at their
previous results, they are not easy to score past and they have had some good
results. Although it wasn’t our best performance or probably not the most
exciting at times, it is about getting three points at this stage and we have
done that. I think when they play five at the back, it was about trying to
stretch them as much as possible and to create pockets in between the lines for
our creative players to get on the ball. Like I say, they are a really tough
team to break down, so we are be delighted with the three points.
“Obviously, there is more to do, points to gain and it is
still early. We just need to keep grinding out these wins and we are on track
for where we want to be.”
