Leeds United left with serious questions to answer after brutal putdown by Brighton — Leeds Live 1/11/25
The match verdict on Leeds United's display vs Brighton in today's Premier League game

Seagulls circled above the AMEX Stadium but Brighton were
vulture-like in their dismantling of a poor Leeds United.
The hosts smelt blood from the off and took just 11 minutes
to go ahead through Danny Welbeck. Cut-backs were the theme of the game, with
all three of Brighton's goals coming via the flank.
Diego Gomez would be the beneficiary of the final two
versions, sweeping home with Lucas Perri out at sea both times. Leeds fans were
loud and gave their all - but they will travel all the way back to Leeds
chewing and spewing over what they saw.
Brighton hit the front early on with Yasin Ayari and Carlos
Baleba having efforts on goal inside the first 10 minutes. In the 11th, Welbeck
put the hosts ahead. Yankuba Minteh took advantage of Gabriel Gudmundsson being
dragged out of position and chipped to ball to the on-running Mats Weiffer.
The right-back pulled back his cross with Lucas Perri coming
to close down, meaning Welbeck had a fairly easy finish to score. The Whites
didn't help themselves at times.
Daniel Farke was seen chatting to Noah Okafor often and he
was annoyed he and no-one else was at the back post when Jayden Bogle's cross
found its way across the box on 14 minutes. And a few minutes later, Sean
Longstaff blasted a 20-yard free-kick miles over to the jeers of the home
support.
Farke was seen turning back to his bench in disgust several
times as the heavens opened. After a positive yet small period of possession,
Brighton reminded Leeds of their threat when Welbeck flashed the ball just past
the right post 10 minutes before half time.
Leeds' midfield was being easily sliced through, with balls
being passed straight to Welbeck and players being left for dead. Minteh shot
wide just before the break after sizing up Jaka Bijol before cutting inside to
create space, a bit of a telegraph move the defender did not deal with.
The one bit of creativity came from Dominic Calvert-Lewin a
few seconds before the whistle blew. His flick sent Okafor down the left,
enabling him to find Brenden Aaronson in the box. He offloaded to Longstaff,
who saw a close range effort deflected over in what was United's best move of
the half.
The second half provided an instantaneous ominous moment
when Leeds ball-watched as former Whites man Georginio Rutter was allowed to
run forward in acres of spaces, but Perri clung onto his shot. Rutter was
allowed to shoot again a few moments later but could only find the side
netting.
The half-time reset for Leeds had failed and, after
Calvert-Lewin thundered an effort just wide, Farke called for Anton Stach and
Daniel James to come on. But any hope evaporated when Gomez scooped home into
an empty net.
Minteh had the beating of Gudmundsson again and his pull
back provided an easy finish for Gomez on 64 minutes, aided by a clever dummy
by an oncoming attacker to take Rodon out of the picture.
Brighton tried their luck again, this time down the left
hand side. Rutter pounced on poor control from Bogle and shouldered off Ethan
Ampadu to pull back for Gomez to fire home with ease on 70 minutes. He won't
get an easier brace all season.
Perri made a good save late on when a powerful shot
deflected off Stach's head, the 'keeper adjusting to palm it away. Substitute
Lukas Nmecha saw a one-on-one chance saved after taking a wide angle before
Stach had a shot easily dealt with.
